COL. A. S. FARROW. Col. Alexander Shore Farrow died at the residence of his son-in-law, A. M. Lockridge, in this city Saturday morning, aged 83 years, after one week's illness with typho malarial fever. The deceased was a native of Kentucky, and served in the Legislature of that State one term. He was also a Kentucky soldier in the war of 1812, serving in Capt. Joe Logan's company. Forty-six years ago he removed to this county and at once became one of the most prominent citizens of the State, and in 1851 served as a member of the Constitutional Convention. He was only prevent from reaching a high political station by his extreme modesty and conscientiousness. He was the father of ten children, eight of whom are yet living, and seven of the number were present at his funeral. One, a daughter living in Iowa, was unable to reach here in time. A great-grand son, almost grown, was also present. His progeny is very numerous. No man in Putnam county was more universally loved and respected that was Col. Farrow. All his qualities were of the most sterling character. The remains of the deceased were interred Sunday at the old homestead ten miles North of the city on the Crawfordsville road, the funeral being preached at Farrow's Chapel by Rev. S. Beck, assisted by Rev. A. A. Gee. The procession was fully a mile in length. Everybody in that part of the county seemed to feel that they had lost a personal friend. Six of his grand-sons, S. F. Lockridge, A. H. Lockridge, A. O. Lockridge, W. H. Crow, James P. Bryan and James Farrow, Jr., acted as pall bearers. A detailed biographical sketch of the life and service of the deceased will be published in the BANNER next week.

A. S. FARROW did have a daughter Elizabeth, who was his oldest daughter, but my records indicate that she married Andrew LOCKRIDGE. If we go back to A. S. FARROW's parents, they were Elizabeth SHORE(S) (1775-1826) and William FARROW (1771-1846). Perhaps they had a child named Elizabeth? I've gone through my notebook and online resources, but keep hitting dead ends (I'm quite certain you know the feeling). Even though I haven't come across anything that is helpful just yet, I'll keep the names on my list while researching.

Wife, Sarah and at least these children: Joseph; Martha Elizabeth and William who was age 22 and a John Farley age 22 but he may have been a nephew or possibly a twin or even the wrong age. Their son Joseph may be the one who had a head stone for the Civil War made for him – died 31 March 1862 – buried Greencastle Pvt Co F 7th Regiment but it says Iowa unit. Dated Mar 29, 1879. Joseph Forest Farley was born 15 April 1791 died 6 Aug 1868 buried Greencastle City Cemetery listed as War of 1812 Cpl in the 2nd Ky Military – no wife is connected to him but these children are: Daniel Alexander Farley 1820-1909; John Hardin Farley 1822-1892; Euclid Farley 1831-1833 and Mark S. Farley 1839-1850 – not real positive he is his though as the note on Findagrave says son of JH and N. Earley so ??? Euclid’s listing says son of JF & S. Farley and yes, that makes sense.
